Creating a great experience for learners on PTTUTS required two types of design. User Experience (UX), and Instructional Design.
UX is probably what you think of when you think of intuitive web design. It includes things like layout, content structure, colour, and navigation.
Instructional Design is about ensuring the quality of instruction. Where UX is about how the site looks, and feels, ID is about meeting the learning needs and goals of the students.
When building PTTUTS, I invested into learning Instructional Design principles. I not only wanted the site to look great. But I wanted to be sure students were genuinely acquiring the skills the course promised.
